Receiving Calls Or Emails From Google? Here's What You Need To Know.
Google May Contact You For A Variety Of Reasons While Your Ads Are Running. Here's How To Identify Those Communications And When To Involve WolfPack Advising.
If you're advertising through Google Ads or Google Local Services Ads (Google Verified), it's normal to occasionally receive emails, phone calls, voicemails, or account notifications directly from Google.
Some communications may require action, while others are simply recommendations or informational updates. This guide explains the most common types of Google communications and how to handle them.
1. Google Ads Strategists (most common)
Google Ads Strategists are Google representatives who periodically review advertising accounts and provide recommendations for improving performance.
Their recommendations may include:
- Increasing advertising budgets
- Expanding keyword targeting (often into Broad Match types)
- Launching additional campaign types
- Adjusting bidding strategies
- Enabling automated features
While these representatives are legitimate Google employees, they do not actively manage your account and may not be familiar with your business goals, budget, service area, lead quality requirements, or long-term strategy.
If a Google Ads Strategist contacts you, we recommend forwarding the communication to WolfPack Advising before implementing any suggested changes. Our team regularly reviews these same opportunities and can determine whether they align with your overall advertising objectives.
2. Google Local Services Ads Support
Google may contact Local Services Ads advertisers regarding:
- Business verification
- Insurance documentation
- License verification
- Background checks
- Lead disputes
- Policy updates
- Account restrictions or suspensions
If WolfPack Advising manages your Local Services Ads account, there is a good chance we are already working directly with Google Support regarding the issue.
For that reason, we recommend forwarding any Local Services Ads communication to our team before responding. This allows us to coordinate with Google, avoid duplicate support requests, and ensure the appropriate information is provided.
3. Google Business Profile Notifications
Google Business Profile notifications are separate from your advertising account but can still impact your online visibility and Local Services Ads performance.
Common notifications include:
- Video verification requests
- Ownership requests
- Profile suspensions
- Business information updates
- Policy compliance reviews
If you receive a Google Business Profile notification, we recommend forwarding it to WolfPack Advising so we can review the request and help guide next steps.
4. Billing & Payment Notifications
Google may occasionally send notifications related to:
- Failed payments
- Expired payment methods
- Outstanding balances
- Billing profile updates
These communications are often legitimate and may require action to prevent advertising interruptions.
If you're unsure whether a notification requires action, we're happy to review it with you.
Protecting Yourself From Scams
Businesses that advertise on Google are frequently targeted by scammers pretending to represent Google. If a communication feels suspicious, creates a sense of urgency, requests sensitive information, or simply doesn't seem right, do not respond and do not click on links. As a reminder, Google will never ask for your account password.
If you receive a call, email, voicemail, or notification from Google regarding your advertising account or Google Business Profile, simply forward it to WolfPack Advising. We'll review the communication, determine whether any action is needed, and help ensure your account remains secure and aligned with your advertising goals.
