This article explains how name changes in the CRM are automatically reflected throughout the platform, ensuring consistency and clarity in data management.
When renaming elements within the CRM platform, behavior can vary depending on the feature you’re updating. Some changes, like updating Automation names, are automatically reflected across the entire account. Others, such as renaming Custom Field Options, require manual updates for consistency.
Contact Tags
Automatically Updated Areas
When a contact tag is renamed, the following areas will reflect the updated tag automatically:
- Contact Records
- Segment/Advanced Search Conditions (including "If/Else" and "Wait" automation actions that use those conditions)
- Automation Triggers
Areas Requiring Manual Updates
The following areas will not update automatically and need manual edits to reflect the renamed tag:
- Link Actions
- Conditional Content
- "Add/Remove a Tag" Automation Actions
Custom Fields
Automatically Updated Areas
Renaming a custom field will automatically update the following areas:
- Segment/Advanced Search Conditions (including "If/Else" and "Wait" automation actions that use those conditions)
- Automation Triggers
- Conditional Content (unless the personalization tag is changed)
Areas Requiring Manual Updates
The following areas require manual edits to reflect a renamed custom field:
- Segment/Advanced Search Conditions
- Automation Triggers
- Conditional Content
- Custom Field Personalization Tags in Campaigns
Note: If a Custom Field Personalization Tag is changed, you must also update any Conditional Content conditions to reference the updated Custom Field.
Automation Names
Renaming an Automation will automatically update the new name across all areas of the CRM platform, including:
- Segment/Advanced Search Conditions
- Automation Actions
- Link Actions
Campaign Names
When a Campaign is renamed, the updated name will automatically reflect across all areas of the CRM platform, including:
- Segment/Advanced Search Conditions
- Automation Actions
- Automation Triggers
Links in a Campaign
If a link within a Campaign is updated, the change is not automatically reflected in the rest of the CRM platform. Instead:
- A new object is generated for the updated link.
- All segment conditions and other references will still point to the previous URL.
To ensure consistency, you must manually update all platform areas using the old URL to reference the new one.
If you update a link in a campaign, it is not reflected in the rest of your CRM account. Instead, a new object for the updated link is generated, and all segment conditions, etc., will still reference the previous URL. All platform areas using the old URL need to be manually changed to use the new URL.
By using this guide, you can efficiently verify and manage name changes to maintain the accuracy and functionality of your CRM account.
